Create Your Own Bat Peg! 🦇 | Easy Halloween Craft for Kids!

Updated: Jul 5

Hi there! I'm Emily, and this is my trusty craft companion, Scout! Today, we're bringing a bit of spooky fun to your day with a simple, hands-on Halloween-themed activity: a Bat Peg! 🦇✨

This fun little project is perfect for kids (with a little help from an adult if needed) and makes a cute decoration or a playful clip to hang around the house. Whether you're gearing up for Halloween or just love bats, this easy craft is sure to be a hit.

How to Create Your Bat Peg

Activity Prep Work:

1. Download our FREE TEMPLATE

2. Cut out the template pieces with ADULT SUPERVISION

3. Gather your materials and your ready to go!

Materials Needed:

  • 1 wooden peg (a standard clothes peg works great)

  • Bat template (already cut out – wings and face)

  • Double-sided tape

  • Scissors

Follow along with me:

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Prepare the Peg

Start by grabbing your wooden peg. Cut a small strip of double-sided tape and stick it just above the metal part of the peg on the front side. This is where the bat’s head will go.

2. Attach the Bat’s Head

Peel off the backing from the double-sided tape. This can be a little fiddly – don’t be afraid to ask an adult for help! Once the tape is ready, take your bat face template and stick it on top of the tape. Press it down firmly. Press, press, press – and voilà! Your bat has a face.

3. Get the Wings Ready

Now it’s time for the wings! Grab your bat wings template and flip it over so you’re looking at the back. In the centre of the wings, place a strip of double-sided tape and trim off the excess.

4. Attach the Wings to the Peg

Make sure your peg is facing down, with the back side up. Peel the backing from the tape on your wings and carefully press the wings onto the back of the peg, about halfway down (so the wings sit just below the head).

5. Flip It Over and Admire Your Bat!

Turn your peg around and check it out – you now have a super cool bat peg! You can clip it onto bags, books, curtains, or even make a whole bat family to hang around your room.

💡 Crafty Tips:

  • Try using black-painted pegs for an even spookier effect.

  • This is a great activity for classrooms, parties, or rainy day fun.

We hope you had lots of fun making your very own bat peg with us! Scout’s ready for a nap now (all that crafting is hard work!), but we’ll be back again soon with another fun project.
